INDOOR SOCCER UPDATE

LTRC will NOT be sponsoring a Winter Indoor Soccer League this year.

Reaching this decision was not an easy one and we have spent many hours researching a multitude of options but having anything place in time for the 2009-2010 Winter does not seem feasible.

This unfortunate situation came about as a result of Baltimore County's recent purchase of the Perring Athletic Club, which we have used for the past 15+ years as the location for our Winter Indoor Season. The County's Division of Parks and Recreation has turned this facility into a "Regional Indoor Facility" similar to Reisterstown SportsPlex. In keeping with the County's philosophy of the "local rec councils get first rights," LTRC was deemed to not be a "primary user" for this facility and therefore we were not allotted any field time for the 2009-2010 Winter. We were also deemed to not be a "primary user" for Reisterstown as well.

Since the decision was reached to not allot any time to LTRC the County has said that "we are in their plans" for next year (Winter 2010-2011) so hopefully this is just a one time occurrence. The LTRC Soccer Board will continue to research all options both through the County as well as the potential for moving to a "for pay" facility for the 2010-2011 Winter Season.

Again we are very sorry we will not be able to offer LTRC families the opportunity to play Indoor Soccer this Winter.
